KICORA is a short form of Kigoma Community College by Radio. It was registered in Tanzania in 2008 with an original idea to start a program for distance learning for adults and a community radio. The objectives are to empower local communities through this community radio - also the remote areas where no car can arrive because of the lack of infrastructure.
KICORA has decided to launch the CARD program. CARD, which stands for the Comprehensive Approach for Rural Development, is an umbrella for five programs; each one having a responsible person and all the programs being under the follow up of the community radio. KICORA runs a program on distance education for adults, it has a program on micro-credits for women, a program on health care, a program on capacity building for the human resources and a program on environmental restoration.
