Control programmes targeting soil-transmitted helminths (STH) and schistosomiasis (SCH) have been in place for years, but falling drug efficacy and growing resistance are undermining their success. Meanwhile, Taenia solium, which is linked to serious neurological illness, remains largely neglected, with no routine interventions. In this context, the EU-funded 3SI-CONTROL project is addressing these gaps by testing a novel fixed-dose combination of albendazole, ivermectin, and praziquantel. Through a large clinical trial and embedded implementation research, the project will assess the safety, cost-effectiveness, and real-world viability of an integrated treatment strategy. By combining scientific evidence with strong advocacy, 3SI-CONTROL aims to inform global health policy and improve control of three major neglected tropical diseases in underserved communities.
