This project aims to enhance African sorghum varieties. I will utilize multiplex gene editing to study the sorgoleone biosynthesis pathway and its effects on drought tolerance, nitrogen use efficiency, and Striga resistance. I aim to impact on a more resilient agriculture by reducing dependence on herbicides, minimizing water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and ultimately, strengthening food security across Africa.
